A native of Gurkha, Nabaraj Thapa (Raj) is always dreamt of joining the tourism industry from a young age. To realize his dream he relocated to Kathmandu and worked hard to earn his trekking guide's license. Having grown up close to the mountains, Nabraj has local knowledge and skills to navigate safely through any natural hazard or difficulty along the trail.

I recently completed the Manaslu Circuit Trek with Nepal Hiking Team, and it’s an experience I’ll carry with me for life. From the very first day, I felt like I was stepping into another world, away from the busyness of everyday life.

Nabaraj seemed to know every inch of the trail, and his sense of humour really kept us going on the more challenging days. Shanker, with his constant smile and steady strength, made even the toughest moments feel lighter.
The trek itself? Absolutely breathtaking. One moment we were walking through lush green forests, and the next, we found ourselves surrounded by towering snow-capped peaks. From start to finish, Nepal Hiking Team made planning and enjoying our Langtang Valley trip incredibly smooth. While we enjoyed day hikes in California, this was our first time doing a trek or anything close to backpacking. After doing some exploration, we reached out to Nepal Hiking Team (NHT) to ask about the best trekking season, facilities, and transportation options, all over everything we need to know. Ganga got us back quickly, even with the time zone altered. We were aiming for October/November, and NHT confirmed it was a great time to go. They were absolutely right—though they couldn’t control the weather situation, we had perfect conditions the entire trip!
Our guide, Navaraj Thapa, was both skilled and friendly. He was always punctual, gave us helpful information, and made sure we stayed safe throughout the trek. For us, this was a challenging trip, but with Navaraj’s experience and knowledge about the trip, we could focus on enjoying the trip without thinking of anything else.
Thanks to our customized itinerary (at no additional cost), we spent seven days on the trail, carrying only daypacks. Ganesh Thapa, our porter and a friend, took care of the rest, carrying all our essentials with ease.
