Route Overview

The 5- day Kathmandu and Lumbini Tours is filled with excitement. Let's look at the route overview of the tour.

Firstly, the trip begins when you arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport from your home country. One of our staff will greet you and transfer you to the hotel. You can relax and prepare for the sightseeing tour. We then set off for an entire day to visit Kathmandu's UNESCO world heritage sites.

These are Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, and Swayambhunath Stupa. Later, you can head back to the hotel and enjoy the evening.

The program continues with a morning flight to Bhairahawa. Upon reaching, we'll head towards the hotel and get ready for the sightseeing tour. We'll visit Maya Devi Temple, World Peace Pagoda, Ashoka Pillar, and the Lumbini International Research Institute in Lumbini. After the sightseeing tour, you'll return to the hotel and spend the evening there. The tour thus comes to an end with a flight back to Kathmandu.

Upon your arrival in Nepal, one of the Nepal Hiking Team representatives will meet you at the airport. He will also bring you to your trip hotel. At the hotel, you will be given further information about the plans and programs. After that, you can relax for the rest of the time.

We will visit UNESCO-listed world heritage sites. Today, we cover the following attractions:

Pashupatinath temple: Sacred temple of Hindu devotees, the temple honors the Hindu deity Lord Shiva. The temple is a mass concentration of temples, and each corner is filled with Sadhus, the most prominent follower of Lord Shiva. This is also the primary site for cremating departed ones by performing various Hindu customs and rituals.

Boudhanath Stupa: The next destination is Boudhanath stupa, the largest dome shape stupa in the world. The design of the stupa Mandala Shape, which is impressive and unique at the same time. The place is constantly reverberating, with Buddhist pilgrims and visitors looking to unwind. Also in its, vicinity, there are several gompas open for exploration.

Kathmandu Durbar Square: Next on the list is Kathmandu Durbar Square. The palace is enormous and is surrounded by impressive temples. Here, travelers can visit temples and museums for detailed inception of the heritage sites. Also, the palace area adorns several monuments, shires, and stupas, which depict centuries-old histories. Moreover, the palace vicinity houses the living goddess Kumari. The palace is one of the most architecturally intricate showcases of Nepali art and unique Newa architecture.

Swayambhunath Stupa: The last destination on today’s tour is Swayambhunath stupa. An ancient religious stupa, set on a hilltop, watch over all of Kathmandu. The stupa is the common ground of Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims, so both heritage sites are filled with temples and stupa honoring both religions.

Today, we fly to Bhairahawa to visit the birthplace of Lord Gautam Buddha. The flight duration is 30-45 minutes, and it is pretty scenic as well. Upon reaching Bhairahawa, we check into the hotel and rest for a bit before continuing the tour. We first visit the Maya Devi temple, where Buddha was born. Similarly, we will also see other monuments and temples sites honoring Buddha.

Along with temples and monasteries, we will also visit the world peace pagoda and Ashoka pillar. There are many monuments, monasteries, and museums, including the Lumbini International Research Institute, within the holy site. Hence, we will visit them as well.

Overnight stay at a 4-star hotel in Lumbini. Breakfast included.

We will fly back to Kathmandu. When you return to Kathmandu, you may spend the remainder of the day doing anything you choose, whether it’s shopping or just walking around the city’s streets.
