Everest Base Camp Trek

I was traveling alone and wanted to join a group for the Everest Base Camp trek. I found all the information I needed on Nepal Hiking Team's website, and I decided to book the 16-day EBC trek package. Booking was simple, and the communication was clear and quick.

Hotel accommodation was at the Woodapple Hotel & Spa in Kathmandu. It was very nice, with polite/helpful employees, clean and spacious rooms, and a grand rooftop restaurant. I met Ganga (NHT CEO) at the hotel, and he was very professional. He filled me in on plans for the city tour the next day and for the trek prep meeting afterward, where I met other members of my group and our guide. Ganga also met our group at the hotel after the trek to get our feedback and give us certificates of trek completion.

I really enjoyed the city tour, and I highly recommend adding that to the itinerary. Even though I went in November, where the weather is clear, I'm glad I included the buffer day after the trek just in case there was a flight cancellation from Lukla after the trek. I was able to explore Kathmandu further that day, which was a nice way to wind down before heading home.

I didn't borrow the down jacket or sleeping bag (I brought my own), but others in my group did borrow them, and everything was nice and clean. The teahouses they had us stay in provided clean rooms/beds, good food, and a western (sit) toilet (if that's important - not all teahouses have them).

Our guide was Sanjay, and we also had an assistant guide, Bikash. Both of them were amazing, and I can't say enough about them. They consistently checked on how everyone was feeling, carried the daypack a few times of someone in the group who was struggling, and helped with taking pictures. As much as they were our trek leaders, they also felt like part of the group. They joined us for playing cards, and we enjoyed lots of laughs. They were also very flexible. When not everyone in the group wanted to complete the Nangkartshang Peak acclimatization hike, Sanjay went with me so I could complete it. When not everyone in the group wanted to do the hike up Kala Patthar, Bikash went with me so I could accomplish it, and I was able to do it at sunset summit instead of at sunrise.

Overall, this was the trip/trek of a lifetime, and the support of Nepal Hiking Team made it possible. I will return to Nepal for other treks, and I will surely book with them.
