While planning my private solo trek of the Annapurna Circuit in May 2024, I reached out to several trekking agencies. Nepal Hiking Team (NHT) stood out—Ganga’s prompt and accommodating responses, including adjustments to add Tilicho Lake, along with their glowing reviews, made my decision easy.
And I couldn't have made a better choice.
From start to finish, the team was both professional and incredibly warm. My guide, Rajesh, personally met me at the airport upon arrival and was there again to see me off at the end. Ganga, the MD himself, took time to go through my itinerary over breakfast on Day 2 and met me again at the end of the trek to check in on me—a personal touch that meant a lot.
Every evening after dinner, Rajesh would sit down with me to go over the next day's route, estimated duration, and expectations. He gave precise estimates based on my ability, advised on water, gear, and pace, and made sure I was always well-fed, hydrated, and warm.
My porter, Raju, was incredibly thoughtful—not only carrying my gear but also presenting me with a beautifully plated fruit platter every evening. He often took the lead while trekking, ensuring I was comfortable with the pace. At Thorong Phedi, he even volunteered to accompany me up to High Camp and the viewpoint, offering extra support. Both Rajesh and Raju emphasized a steady and comfortable pace, helping me avoid AMS.
While the Annapurna Circuit itinerary is fairly standard across trekking agencies, Nepal Hiking Team’s itinerary stood out with its well-thought-out adjustments. Adding Tilicho Lake not only enhanced the trek but also unintentionally became a perfect acclimatization hike to 5000m, making the Thorong-La pass easier.
Instead of staying at High Camp (4900m), I followed NHT’s recommendation to sleep at Thorong Phedi (4600m) for better rest, even though it meant an extra hour of ascent the next morning. In hindsight, it was an excellent decision.
Per my request, NHT arranged single rooms with ensuite toilets at almost all guesthouses, with only two exceptions. Hot showers were available everywhere except Thorong Phedi, where I was advised not to shower at high altitude. WiFi and power were widely available, except for a brief outage at Tilicho Base Camp.
Nepal Hiking Team exceeded my expectations in every way. I felt safe, well taken care of, and completely at ease throughout the trek. I’d definitely choose them again and would specifically request Rajesh and Raju for my next adventure.
If you’re looking for a professional team with genuine warmth and care, I highly recommend Nepal Hiking Team!
