Gokul Magar has been working as a trekking guide for more than twenty-five years.  During his long career as a trekking guide, he has led clients to all the mountainous regions of Nepal. A native of Solukhumbu, Gokul Magar knows the trails of the Everest Region like the back of his hand.

Knowledgeable, experienced, well-organized, and polite, trekking with Gokul will be like trekking with a protective guardian. The client's comfort and satisfaction are of prime importance to him and he will go the extra mile to make your trek memorable. He is also a good communicator and has a good command of the English language.

  • Annapurna Circuit Trek Incredible Experience

    We had an incredible experience with Nepal Hiking Team. The company was very easy to work with ahead of time - they were responsive to questions and made it easy to customize our trip. Once in Nepal, they went above and beyond to make our trip comfortable, including setting up hotel reservations, taxi rides, etc. 

    The trek itself was an amazing experience. Our guide, Gokul, taught us so much about the region that we otherwise wouldn’t have learned, and was incredibly friendly and fun to be around. Gokul was very serious about ensuring the safety and comfort of our group while trekking. He also brought us to some spots that we otherwise would not have known to go to, including side trails and cultural locations.

    Our porters, Basu and Deepesh, worked very hard throughout the trip to make it enjoyable for everyone. We all shared many laughs together and enjoyable conversations while trekking and in the guest houses.

    I would recommend NHT and specifically Gokul, Basu and Deepesh to anyone who is looking to get the most out of a trek in Nepal.

  • Incredible mountain adventure

    We had an amazing time. The company was very quick to reply to our questions and were even able to change the dates of our trek last minute, do to some issues on our end. Our guide Gokul was fantastic and I would be happy to have him as a guide any time I am in Nepal. He was extremely friendly and genuine. Our porters ( Gaurab and Rajendra) worked very hard as well and always had positive energy. The only issues we had with the trek was underestimating how much bottled water costs as well as the itinerary we were given had some errors. We were unable to visit the Buddhist monastery as it closes after the morning but we were not made aware of this. The day we summited was the highlight of the trip but then we also had to hike another 3-4 hours to our beds for the night and if I did the trek again I would opt to stay closer. All in all, it was a fantastic time and I would not hesitate to use this company again as well as name request Gokul as my guide.

  • A challenging but rewarding trek - Manaslu in Nepal

    Our group of 13 hikers took on the Manaslu Circuit trek with Nepal Hiking Team, and the experience was truly astonishing as we journeyed through stunning valleys adorned by white snow-covered mountains.

    The Nepal Hiking Team managed every detail seamlessly—from airport pickup and a city tour of Kathmandu to transportation, accommodations, and meals throughout the round trip to Manaslu.

    Our guides (Arun, Gokal, and Surin) were not only knowledgeable but also helpful. Their attentive care made the trek all the more enjoyable. A special touch we appreciated was the fresh fruit served after dinner each night.

    I wholeheartedly recommend Nepal Hiking Team and look forward to trekking and using their services again in the future!

  • Trip to Tibet: Mount Kailash

    Recently had the opportunity to enjoy their hospitality for Mount Kailash trip in Tibet. Ganga ji did a lot of hard work to make this trip perfect for us. All big and small things were taken care.

    The whole cooking staff traveled with us providing great food at all places. The guides Arun ji, Gokul ji and Dawa ji took care of whatever where ever was needed.

    The stay in Kathmandu at WoodApple hotel and all other hotel along the way was great.

  • Mount Kailash Mansarovar Yatra

    Nepal Hiking team handled our trip to Kailash Manasariovar Yatra seamlessly from Day 1 to Day 16. We were a very large group embarked on a Holy Yatra to Kailash Manasarovar from the USA. Proper acclimatization and good food was very important along with good guides to assist and enhance the experience. Gangaji and his guides Arun and Gokul made the trip very effortless. 2 Day hike in Nepal was a very good training for the group.

    Food all along was very good, freshly made to taste and altitude. Baggage handling was quiet an effort and done seamlessly. Health Emergencies were handled to the best as it happens at High altitude and travel.

    Accommodations at Kathmandu (Woodapple hotel) Saga, Kerung, Darchen, Dhirapuk were great. Customized Tshirts, Muffler and Duffel bags were a great souvenir. The whole trip was successful with largest ever group of 33 crossing the DolmaLa pass and having Darshan of Gauri Kund. Customized Holy bath at Manasarovar and Puja were a great addition to the trip.

  • Wonderful trip to Kailash

    We did the Kailash Manosarovar tour to Tibet.

    Ganga was excellent in looking after us from the day we landed , local sight seeing tours and managing the expectations and complexities of the trip to Tibet. 

    Well organised trip and budget friendly as well. 

    This is our second tour with Nepal Hiking Team. Very good response times and professional outfit.
