Trip Overview

Our 14-day Everest Base Camp Short Trek is specially designed for those trekkers who want to trek the entire path to Everest Base Camp (EBC) on foot within the shortest time possible. Every year, hundreds of people visit Solu-Khumbu to realize their dream of hiking to the Base Camp of Mount Everest (8,849), the world's tallest mountain.

After many unsuccessful attempts by trekkers worldwide to summit Mt. Everest, Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Sherpa became the first successful climbers to ascend in May 1953. The Khumbu region around Mt. Everest and other Himalayan mountains became a national park in 1976. Known as the Sagarmatha National Park, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site (1979)

Our Short Everest Base Camp trek is the ideal package for mountain lovers. It is moderately challenging, has a pleasant trek pace and helpful guides, and is efficiently arranged so that you can enjoy Mount Everest's foothills without any hassle.

Some famous places on the way to Everest Base Camp, apart from the EBC, are Lukla - the entry point to the Khumbu region, Namche Bazaar – the famous trading capital of the region, Tengboche- the monastic village of Khumbu, Gorakshep – the final overnight destination, and Kala Patthar – the best viewpoint for an unobstructed view of the Mt. Everest. It is also the highest elevation on your short trek to Everest Base Camp.

Don’t miss the golden opportunity to travel to Everest Base Camp! Book now, and let us know if you have any queries.

Complete Route Overview of Short EBC Trek

Our Everest Base Camp Trek can be completed within 14 days. You will board a flight to Lukla either from Kahtmandu to Ramechhap– the Gateway to Everest, a day after you arrive in Kathmandu. It will be an exhilarating experience since you will fly to one of the world's highest airports, Tenzing-Hillary Airport (2,846 m).

From Lukla, you will walk along the Dudh Koshi River towards Phakding. From Phakding, you will walk to Namche Bazaar, deemed the busiest business center of the region. It has teahouses, cafes, bakeries, banks, spas and luxury lodges.

Before Namche, you will reach the entrance to Sagarmatha National Park at Jorsalle, another milestone on the way to EBC. After a night at Namche, you will spend your first acclimatization day hiking to Hotel Everest View (3,880m), the highest-placed luxury hotel in the world. Subpar amenities of the Hotel, coupled with a breathtaking view of Mt. Everest, make it an exceptional stay.

Moving on, you will reach Tengboche, the spiritual center of the Sherpa community. Tengboche monastery's serene vibe and the splendid backdrop of Mt. Ama Dablam offer much-needed solace to locals and trekkers alike. It was built in 1916 and is the biggest monastery in the Khumbu region.

The next stop on your Short Everest Base Camp trek is Dingboche, the most elevated Sherpa village. The landscape becomes barren from here onwards, with oxygen levels dropping significantly.

A hike up Nagarjuna Hill (5100 m) will acclimate you for the second time on your trek. It is the only viewpoint for Mt. Makalu (8,481 m). Other peaks visible from Nagarjuna Hill are Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Ama Dablam, and others.

After Dingboche, you will walk towards Lobuche. Thughla Pass (4,800 m) is another milestone on your way to Lobuche. You will find stone memorials at the Pass built in memory of deceased mountaineers.

From Lobuche, you will ascend to Everest Base Camp via Gorakshep. Gorakshep is your last overnight destination. Although it does not have local settlements, teahouses and lodgings provide basic accommodation for trekkers. After a successful hike to the Everest Base Camp, you must trace your steps back to Gorakshep.

Your trek to Kala Patthar (5,644 m), the best viewpoint to observe Mt. Everest up close, will be the highest elevation on your short EBC trek. After enjoying the picturesque view of Mt. Everest and other snow-capped mountains (Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Lhotse, and others), you will return to Lukla via Periche.

From Pheriche, you will trek back to Namche and hike up to Lukla.

You can catch up with other trekkers at dinner after arriving at Lukla. This will be an opportunity to share fascinating anecdotes from your journey.

Your short EBC trek in Nepal ends here. The next morning, you board a flight back to Kathmandu. On the last day of your trip, one of our staff will see you off at the Tribhuvan International Airport.

Alternative Treks to short EBC Trek

Catering to our clients' needs, we have prepared adventures with different timelines. If you find our 14-day package unsuitable, please consider our "16-Day Everest Base Camp (EBC) Trek Package." This option includes two extra leisure days, one each at the beginning and the end of your trip, spent in Kathmandu.

For those seeking a more relaxed itinerary, we offer the "EBC Trek for Seniors – 20 Days." This package is tailored for elderly trekkers and families with children, featuring shorter walking hours and ample free time for rest and exploration.

If you prefer a shorter trek, consider our "Everest Base Camp Heli Trekking - 12 Days." This trip incorporates a helicopter service from Gorakshep to Lukla, eliminating the return trek from Gorakshep and saving two days. Alternatively, our "EBC Heli Trek – 11 Days" includes a direct helicopter service from Gorakshep to Kathmandu.

Lastly, our "Everest Base Camp Luxury Trek" is an opulent option. It features overnight stays in luxury mountain lodges (where available) during the trek and accommodation at a five-star hotel in Kathmandu.

When Is The Best Time For Everest Base Camp Short Trek?

You must know that the EBC trail is open throughout the year. So you can do Everest Base Camp Short Trek any time of the year.

The weather conditions are ideal for trekking during spring and autumn because of the clear sky, relatively less rainfall, and moderate temperatures. Early winter is also a good time, but the freezing temperature at dusk and down makes the trek less enjoyable.

Monsoon months during summer are the least favorable time to trek to the Everest region. However, the best thing about doing Short Everest Base Camp Trek during winter and summer is that you can take the Lukla flight from Kathmandu instead of Ramechhap. Also, the trail to Everest Base Camp will be less crowded during these seasons.

Can Beginners Take the Short Trek to Everest Base Camp?

The Everest Base Camp trail is well maintained and thus in good condition. More than the landscape, the thinning air on higher trek elevations makes it difficult for trekkers to walk toward the Base Camp of Mt. Everest. However, with proper preparations and guidance from our trained guides, you will complete your short EBC 14-day hiking adventure.

Building your stamina by moderately strenuous exercises a few months before your trek will prepare you for the mountain adventure. A balanced diet and endurance exercises like jogging, swimming, cycling, and long hikes will help you achieve the proper fitness required for the Short Everest Base Camp trekking.

If you do long hikes before your short Everest trek, you will better understand the terrains and gain experience tackling difficulties in mountainous regions. But this is optional. If you are fit and have enough stamina, you will complete your hike to the Everest Base Camp without significant hardship.
